A Brief History Of Fresno TX

In Fort Bend County in the state of Texas, you will find an unincorporated community called Fresno TX. Although it’s not as famous as its namesake in California, the township is still quite impressive. Fresno TX had a population of nearly 20,000 people at the 2010 census. Naming And Early Growth

Fresno TX is a piece of land patented in 1884. It’s believed that a settler from California gave the township its current name most likely from the bigger Fresno city in that state. Four years after acquiring its post office in 1910, Fresno TX had a population of 32 people with one hardware store and one general store. The population fell to just 10 people in 1933 but it surged again in 1946 to reach 100 inhabitants.

Impressive Growth In The 1990s And 2000s

Fresno TX maintained a population of 100 people until the 1960s and then it started experiencing rapid growth in the 1970s and 1980s. The township expanded significantly in the 1990s and 2000s.
